Dr. Fred Bruno

Born and raised in Long Island, New York, Dr. Bruno graduated from New York Chiropractic College in 1987. Upon passing the Maryland State Board Exam and receiving his Chiropractic license with Physical Therapy privileges, he moved to Maryland in 1988. After a brief time in practice with a friend in Germantown, he moved to his current location where he has been serving the Bethesda community since 1990 with a genuine concern for helping people optimize their health potential through Chiropractic Care, Nutritional Counseling, and Exercise Guidance. He believes that while Medicine certainly has its place, we need to focus more on the pro-active steps necessary to maximize our health and leave the Medical Profession to what it does best--crisis care.

"I have no problem with the Medical Community and I work with Specialists when it's in the best interest of a patient's health. I'm probably still here with thanks to the practice of medicine. In 1961, at the age of 8, I was diagnosed with Rheumatic Fever. The joint pain and inflammation kept me bedridden for more than several months and there was great concern over the prospect of damage to the mitral valve of the heart-which is common for this illness. I had to take a lot of medications but I survived the ordeal with, seemingly, no residual damage.

One benefit that resulted from this traumatic experience was that it ignited a passion for the sciences even though it did not lead me towards a medical career. Instead, I graduated college with a B.S. in Business Administration. Not too long after graduation, while heavily involved in Karate, working a regular job, and playing In a band, I started to have pain in my mid-back that also seemed to travel into my chest. Fearing a heart problem that could have been caused by my bout with Rheumatic Fever, I sought medical help. After seeing several specialists and undergoing a series of tests, I was told there was nothing wrong. Great news-but I still had pain in my back and chest. That's when an old friend, who had become a Chiropractor and was practicing in Florida, convinced me to go to one of his colleagues. Needless to say, I did, and was pain free in a reasonable amount of time. I became fascinated by the thought of helping people become pain-free without the use of medication while also teaching them to attain better health by combining Chiropractic with Nutrition and Exercise. This thought remained with me until one day, several years later and more than half way through an MBA, I decided that change was in order. I withdrew from the MBA program and enrolled in a pre-med program to satisfy my requirements necessary to go on to Chiropractic School. It's been almost 26 years since my graduation from Chiropractic College and I feel blessed to be able to use my knowledge and skills to influence people's health in such a positive way."

When he's not at the office, Dr. Bruno spends his spare time enjoying the outdoors, working out, performing music, and playing baseball.
