What to Expect: Your First Visit

Patient Forms

The initial step upon entering our office for the first time will be to fill out a Confidential Patient Information Form. Should your visit be the result of an accident or work-related injury there will be an additional form that will focus on the nature of the incident that has caused your condition. If Chiropractic care is covered under your health insurance plan, a copy of your insurance card will be made for billing purposes.

Consultation

Next you will have a consultation with Dr. Bruno to discuss your health problems and medical history. It is important to know as much as possible about the state of your health in order to focus on the whole person as opposed to just your symptoms. If you are new to Chiropractic and are not sure what a Chiropractor does, Dr.Bruno will take the time necessary to give you an overview. This is also a good time to discuss your expectations in order to determine whether Chiropractic care will help you meet your goals.

Examination

Following the consultation Dr.Bruno will conduct a complete Chiropractic examination which will include a postural analysis, testing your mobility through ranges of motion, reflex testing, as well as any other orthopaedic, and neurologic tests that are deemed necessary to determine the cause of your condition.

X-Ray Studies

If Dr.Bruno feels that your condition warrants the taking of X-rays in order to get a full evaluation, he will take them at this time. These can assist in identifying more serious conditions as well as help determine the best treatment plan for you. Should you have recent X-rays and/or an MRI that is related to your problem please bring them with you.

Treatment

At this point in time Dr.Bruno may begin treatment depending upon how acute the condition is. Treatment might include spinal adjustments, modalities (i.e. electric muscle stimulation, mechanical traction, low level laser, and/or cold pack), and/or soft-tissue work.

Your Second Visit

Report of Findings

Upon evaluation of all the information collected on the first visit, Dr.Bruno will go through what is termed a “Report of Findings”. He will answer what are usually the top five questions on a patient’s mind:

A treatment plan that is best suited for your needs will be reviewed. Recommendations will also be made as to how best you can become an active participant in your care in order to help speed up your healing process.
Should Dr.Bruno feel that your condition requires care from other specialists, he will discuss this with you.
