The Power of Change

A Message from Dr. Fred F. Bruno

In 2008, Americans witnessed the most successful grass roots political campaign in our country’s history in which a junior senator from Illinois rallied throngs of passionate supporters around his mantra of “change”. As now-President Barack Obama eloquently put it, “I’m asking you to believe. Not just in my ability to bring about change in Washington … I’m asking you to believe in yours.”

As individuals responsible for our own health and wellbeing, I can’t think of a more appropriate attitude to embrace than believing in our ability to change. It’s unfortunate that many people today have a quick fix attitude about their health, especially when it comes to pain relief. This attitude is certainly due in part to our living in a society where technology can provide almost anything we desire “on-demand”.

In reality, we should view pain as a message begging for investigation. When we simply take medication to mask it, pain may go away temporarily but the underlying cause rages on. Symptoms are the body’s way of warning us that our ability to rejuvenate has been compromised. If this ability is not restored, the problem continues, causing further tissue damage and advancement of the disease process.

Chiropractic is a more effective treatment because it addresses the root of the problem. When your spine is out of alignment, the resulting nerve interference causes symptoms and pain. Stabilizing the spinal structure promotes optimal functioning of your body’s nervous system. This is accomplished via hands-on adjustment of the spine to reduce vertebral misalignment and relieve nerve interference. When your spine is adjusted with regularity and repetition, your nervous system triggers your body’s natural cellular healing capabilities.

Once this process has begun, you can begin to incorporate exercise, proper nutrition and stress reduction into your daily routine, which will eventually become habit. With chiropractic as a guiding force, you will soon find that you have built a healthier and happier lifestyle.

Which path will you choose? Will you pop a pill, cover up the cause, and ignore the real problem until it becomes serious? Or will you choose chiropractic? Yes, it takes time, participation, and dedication to achieve a longer, healthier, more positive life. But just like Barack Obama, I’m asking you to believe not just in my ability to bring about change in your overall health, I’m asking you to believe in yours
